The Vision Pro glasses got hacked immediately after they were launched.

here are reports claiming that Apple Vision Pro virtual reality glasses have security vulnerabilities that can be exploited by cyber criminals to harm users. An engineer created a tool that exploits the kernel vulnerabilities of the VisionOS operating system, which could allow hackers to jailbreak the device and implant malicious code on it.

The method used in this attack is similar to the technique used to jailbreak iPhones. If the vulnerability is confirmed, it will be the first security flaw discovered in Apple's new product line. Apple has not commented on this yet.

If the exploit is successful, the Vision Pro glasses will switch to panoramic view mode, requiring the user to stop using the device for 30 seconds to restart. The main interface then displays a data analysis table showing that the operating system kernel has been compromised. The engineer also set up a new feature called Vision Pro Crasher on the device to demonstrate that the hack was successful. When this feature is activated, the glasses will "hang" and display a skull-shaped notification along with the engineer's social network account name.

As with all new technology products, hackers and researchers aim to test the security capabilities. Experts predict that Apple will quickly verify the vulnerability and release an update to fix it. Additionally, according to the Apple Security Bounty program regulations, the engineer who discovered the vulnerabilities in the VisionOS operating system may be rewarded with a bounty of between 5,000 to two million USD. Apple is willing to pay handsomely to white hat hackers to help the company check for errors on various products.

The Vision Pro glasses, which cost 3,500 USD, will be delivered to users starting February 2. The product has an M2 chip that is responsible for computer vision and graphics tasks, and an R1 chip that processes image and audio input. The device can also accurately recognize facial expressions and hand gestures through 5 sensors and 12 cameras. The OLED screens on the glasses have higher pixel density than 4K TVs. Apple also sells several accessories, such as a 200 USD travel case and a 50 USD battery case. Analysts predict that Apple will sell 160,000 to 180,000 glasses in the first batch, but the number of orders is said to have reached 200,000 units in just the first ten days.
