The Motorola phone can be bent to transform into a smartwatch.

Motorola demonstrated its "adaptive phone" prototype at the Lenovo Tech World 2023 event in Austin, Texas. This phone can be used as a regular smartphone or bent to be worn on the wrist like a smartwatch. The device has a bar design with a curved POLED screen that measures 6.9 inches and has Full HD resolution. The back of the phone is made of plastic and covered with fabric. It also has a joint structure that allows it to bend over the wrist.

When the device is in a curved state, the display screen is reduced to 4.6 inches but still allows full use of the features of an Android smartphone. In addition to this mode, users can bend the device in an L or inverted V shape and place it on the table.

Motorola's phone combined with a smartwatch brings a new concept to the phone market. However, it may not be practical due to its large size and thickness, making it difficult to wear, especially for those with small wrists. At the event, Lenovo revealed that it is only a prototype and did not disclose a launch time.

Motorola also developed MotoAI, a separate AI based on large language models (LLM) that runs locally on mobile devices without needing a network connection. MotoAI allows users to give voice commands, suggest content based on usage habits, answer questions, compose messages, schedule tasks, and customize wallpapers and personalized watch faces.

Motorola is an American telecommunications company that entered the mobile industry in 1983. It has faced several difficulties over the years and sold its mobile division Motorola Mobility to Google in 2011 for $12.5 billion. In 2014, Lenovo bought the company for $2.3 billion. After returning to Lenovo, Motorola launched several foldable screen phones and tested prototypes of rolling and bending screens, but they have not yet become commercial products.
