Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, currently has a net worth of $141 billion, making him the fifth richest person in the world. He is also the fourth wealthiest technology CEO, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Zuckerberg's resurgence in 2023 was due to his efforts to optimize spending and cut staff, which led to an "effective year" for Meta. The company also achieved a trillion-dollar market capitalization milestone.

However, in September 2022, Zuckerberg was removed from the list of the world's 10 wealthiest people after Facebook's parent company suffered significant losses due to its failed virtual metaverse project. His net worth plummeted from $142 billion in 2021 to $38.1 billion in just one year.

Following this setback, Zuckerberg made significant changes to his leadership style. He laid off over 21,000 employees by the end of 2022 and early 2023.

In recent months, Zuckerberg has been focusing on artificial intelligence, purchasing more than 350,000 graphics cards worth tens of billions of dollars to develop a large language model training system. He remains committed to the metaverse but has made changes to integrate more AI to make it trendier.

Zuckerberg's efforts have been well-received by investors. Meta's market capitalization currently stands at $1 trillion, just below the $1.1 trillion it achieved in September 2021. The company's shares have also increased by 200% compared to the same period last year. CNBC has noted that shareholders are optimistic about Meta's position as a leader in the field of artificial intelligence.

Meta plans to release its fourth quarter 2023 financial report on February 1st.
